Summer classes are held June through early August each year for all dance styles and include lessons and auditions for the Aiken Civic Ballet Company and Junior Company. Please see our Summer Schedule page for more details.
Classical tap dance technique is taught with emphasis on fun and a focus on rhythm and timing. Our tap curriculum is based on the Broadway Style (a traditional style that focuses on tap fundamentals) using a wide variety of music genres including the most current popular music. Dancers will take Ballet and Jazz each day as well as enjoying the story / theme associated with their camp. Crafts will be offered daily prepared for their theme. Snacks will be provided daily and a performance will be done at the end of each week on Friday.
The annual season for all dance classes is mid-August through mid-May each year. Students are accepted on a nine-month basis only.
Basic jazz dance technique, terminology and quality of movement are emphasized. Rhythmic awareness and individual expression are incorporated into each class. For ages 6 and up. Classes are typically 45 minutes until students reach Senior skill level, then classes run 1 hour. Please see our Jazz Classes page for more details.
